Made in lockdown in the depth of the 2020 Coronavirus pandemic, this art robe is my interpretation of the Victorian artist , Ford Maddox - Brown’s unfinished painting of the same name , but this time seen as a symbol of Mother Earth offering the “ father” ( Patriarchy) his baby ( coronavirus) as a symbol of a new beginning but also a consequence of aeons of bad behaviour. So many questions can be asked of the story behind the original painting and why it remained unfinished . It is hand painted richly appliqued with white lace to provide gorgeous textural effects. The robe itself is made from the highest quality gold printed rust coloured dutch wax cottons . It is a loose fitting garment and would fit all sizes up to around uk 26. Machine washable on delicate cycle at 30 degrees . Do not tumble dry .
Take your son, sir!
